Introduction
Dravyaguna Vijnana is a vital branch of Ayurveda that deals with the study of medicinal substances, their properties (Guna), actions (Karma), and therapeutic uses. It forms the backbone of Ayurvedic pharmacology and therapeutics by providing a detailed understanding of Medicinal plants.
The subject emphasizes classical concepts such as Rasa, Guna, Veerya, Vipaka, and Prabhava, which help in understanding the pharmacodynamics of drugs. It also integrates traditional knowledge with modern research to ensure safe and effective use of medicinal plants.
